JSystems

Install JSystems apps on Windows with one PowerShell command

Short answer

Open PowerShell from the Start menu, paste the one line from this post and press Enter. It asks yes or no for each JSystems app, then downloads and installs the ones you picked. You do not need admin rights to install. At the end, Windows asks once if the apps can be pinned to your taskbar. You can say no and the apps stay installed.

JSystems makes five free Windows apps. Instead of downloading and running a setup file for each one, you can install all of them, or just the ones you want, by pasting one line into PowerShell. You do not need to know anything about PowerShell. This post walks you through it.

Step 1: Open PowerShell

Press the Start button, type PowerShell, and press Enter. A window opens with some text and a blinking cursor. That is where you paste the line.

Step 2: Paste the line and press Enter

Copy this line:

irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Josephivgi/JAgents/main/install.ps1 | iex

Click in the PowerShell window, press Ctrl+V to paste it, then press Enter.

Step 3: Pick your apps

It goes through the five apps one at a time. For each one it shows the latest version, how big the download is, whether you already have it, and what the app does:

  • Simple Recorder records your screen, a window or an area to MP4.
  • JAgents runs coding agents like Claude Code and Codex side by side.
  • JPerformance tracks CPU, memory, disk and network use over 30 days.
  • JServer watches the Linux servers in your SSH config.

Type y and press Enter to install an app, or n and Enter to skip it. Pressing Enter on its own also means yes. If you skip all five, nothing is installed.

Step 4: Wait for it to say Done

The apps download and install on their own. There are no setup screens to click through. This can take up to 10 minutes, depending on how many apps you picked and how busy your PC is. Every few seconds it shows how far along it is, so you can tell it is still working. Keep the window open until you see Done.

When an app is installed, you find it in the Start menu like any other app. Simple Recorder and JAgents also get a desktop shortcut and open by themselves when they are ready.

Step 5: Pin to the taskbar

At the end it pins your new apps to the taskbar, next to the ones you already have there. The first time, Windows asks "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?"

  • Click Yes to add the pins. Your taskbar disappears for a moment and comes back with the new apps on it.
  • Click No if you do not want them pinned. The apps are still installed, and you can open them from the Start menu.

Windows only asks this once. If you run the line again later, it does not ask.

What it does for you

  • Gets each app straight from JSystems. Every app comes from its official download page on GitHub, always the newest version.
  • Checks every download. It makes sure each file is exactly the one JSystems published, and will not install a file that was changed or damaged on the way.
  • Installs just for you. The apps go in your own user folder, so you do not need an administrator password.
  • Skips the "Windows protected your PC" screen. Windows shows that warning for setup files you download in a browser. It does not show it here.

Updating your apps

Paste the same line into PowerShell again. Next to each app it shows the version you have and the newest one, so you can say yes to the ones that need an update.

If something goes wrong

  • An app says it failed. That app was probably open. Close it and paste the line again.
  • You see a yellow line about Node.js. That is fine. It is about an extra version of JAgents for programmers, which needs a tool called Node.js. The normal JAgents app is installed either way.

Common questions

Do I need to know how to use PowerShell?

No. You open it from the Start menu, paste one line and press Enter. After that you only answer y or n for each app.

Do I need admin rights to install JSystems apps?

No. The apps install in your own user folder. Only pinning them to the taskbar needs permission, and Windows asks for it once. If you say no, the apps are still installed.

Is it safe?

The line downloads the JSystems installer from GitHub and runs it. It checks that every app it downloads is exactly the file JSystems published. As with anything from the internet, only paste lines from sources you trust. If you want, you can read the installer in your browser first.

Which apps does it install?

Only the ones you say yes to. You can pick any of Simple Recorder, JAgents, JPerformance, JServer and JMCP.

How long does it take?

Up to 10 minutes, depending on how many apps you pick and how busy your PC is. It shows progress every few seconds, so you can tell it is not stuck.

How do I update an app I installed this way?

Paste the same line into PowerShell again and say yes to the app. It shows which version you have and which is the newest.
